The WHY

โ€œWake for Warriors has not only saved my life, but they renewed my faith and gave me a purpose.โ€

Iโ€™m an injured former United States Reconnaissance Marine with combat tours to both Afghanistan, and Iraq. I am also an ABK (above the knee amputee), and missing pieces of my skull and brain, to include the entirety of my right ear and all the inner workings. Iโ€™ve been a part of the Wake for Warriors family for over 2 years now and Iโ€™ve seen the incredible difference that can be made in a single weekend for an injured veteran like me. I donโ€™t know where Iโ€™d be without this organization and these people who have become like family.

Surfing season is only so long, but the connections made at these events will hopefully be a veterans lifeline during those "not so easy" times throughout their year and their life.

I โ€œspread the shredโ€ to save more lives like mine and to bring more men and women into the family who need to be reminded of their own value, strength, and purpose.

-Matt
